Jeff Preston Bezos was born in January 12 1964 in Albuquerque New Mexico. His mother Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen was just 17 when Jeff was born and his biological father Ted Jorgensen. Ted Jacklyn and Ted Jorgensen were just married for a short period of time before they divorced when Jeff was about a year old. When Bezos was 4 years of age when his mother re-married, to Cuban immigrant Miguel Bezos who studied at the University of Albuquerque. After they were married Miguel adopted Jeff as his own child. Later they moved to Huston Texas where Miguel Bezos became an engineer for Exxon an American Multinational Oil and Gas Corporation.
Jeff Bezos showed an interest in how things work at such a young age. He would turn his parents’ garage into a laboratory and rigging electrical contraptions around his house. He then moved to Miami with his family as a teenager, where he developed a love for computers and later graduated as a valedictorian and National Merit Scholar of his high school. It was during high school that he started his first business, the Dream Institute, an educational summer camp for fourth, fifth and sixth graders.
Bezos attended Princeton University initially in the career of physics but he later gave up on that. Bezos found a passion with computers he created a large amount of software while attending school. Bezos found a field that he liked and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and another on in computer science. He graduated as the president of the school’s chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space. Bezos graduated from the university in 1986. Bezos got a job at several firms on Wall Street, including Fitel, Bankers Trust and the investment firm D.E. Shaw. He ended up meeting woman that later on would become his wife, Mackenzie, and became the company’s youngest vice president in 1990.
