Open my heart, dear Lord,
to the music
of your creation.
May I sing your praises,
all the days of my life.
Amen

"What I really wanted to tell you is this. When we sing during church (and the we is very important because this choir is a group of very special people) it is a very moving experience for all of us," said Doug Reid.

"The music we bring to you each Sunday has been practiced and sung many times, but when we perform the piece I can say with great confidence that we all feel the presence of God in the words and music. Our performance is our gift to you. God has given each of us the ability to sing, and it is right for us to use those gifts to glorify His name.

"Together the choir is much more than a collection of individuals. It is a place where the spirituality of music is released through technique and camaraderie. ……and never forget – when you sing in church, you praise God twice!”

I love to hear a choir. I love the humanity to see the faces of real people devoting themselves to a piece of music. I like the teamwork. It makes me feel optimistic about the human race when I see them cooperating like that.

Deb Reynolds Shares Her Thoughts on What Music Means to Her

To say that music enhances our lives is an understatement. Music often provides a language for our hearts when we have none of our own.  In times of crisis, joy, revelation or peace, there is a song that exists precisely for that moment.

Did you know that "music is what feelings sound like?"

My life is filled with music. I am so blessed to be able to be a part of so many singing opportunities. I get to do it all and love every minute of it!  The most fulfilling music is sung right here in this sanctuary with this wonderful choir. A choir that I have sung in for well over 30 years and with some of the same people! We are a dedicated and inspired lot. We have ridden a lot of waves together. No matter what problems arose in this church we were the glue that held fast to what we were all here for....worship. I am very proud of that.

Now, we have been blessed with Erik, our new minister of music. You just don't know all that is in his heart and mind when it comes to worship. With Erik...God gets all the glory.
My beautiful Savior has put a song in my heart. When I sing I reflect His love for me in every note with thanksgiving for such an incredible gift.

"Come, Christians, Join to Sing"
"Why We Sing" by Kirk Franklin
Someone asked the question
Why do we sing?
When we lift our hands to Jesus
What do we really mean?

Someone may be wondering
When we sing our song
At times we maybe crying
And nothing's even wrong

I sing because I'm happy
I sing because I'm free
His eyes are on the sparrow
That's the reason why I sing

Glory
Hallelujah
You're the reason why I sing

And when the song is over
We've all said
Amen
In your heart just keep on singing
And the song will never end

And if somebody asked you
Was it just a show
Lift your hands and be a witness
And tell the whole world
No

And when we cross that river
To study war no more
We will sing our songs to Jesus
The one whom we adore

Glory
Hallelujah
You're the reason why I sing

Why should I feel discouraged
And why should the shadows come
And why should my heart feel so lonely
And long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
My constant friend is He
His eyes are on the sparrow
And I know he watches me

8 Reasons People
Join the Choir

8.  Your running out of clean clothes and the choir robes save on laundry.

7.  You've just been selected for jury duty and want to get used to sitting with a group of people.

6.  Your church is so full you want to ensure that you always have a seat.

5.  There's a clock at the back of the sanctuary and you want to be the first to know when it's 11:00.

4.  For years you've wanted to know who sits in the back pews but were always afraid to turn around.

3.  You've been known to nod off during the service and don't want the preacher to catch you.

2.  The chairs in the choir are the most comfortable in the sanctuary.

And the number one reason
to join the choir is:

1.  The collection plate is never passed to the choir.

O Praise ye the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with psaltery and harp.

Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Praise God in this holy place every nation, every race

Come, make joyful music to the Lord

Sound the trumpet, sound it clear, sound it for the

world to hear

Come make joyful music to the Lord

Everything that breathes now praise, sing your songs,

let voices riase

Come make joyful music to the Lord

Play the cmybals, play the lute, play the timbrel, play the flute

Come make joyful music to the Lord

Hal-le, Hal-le, Hal-le-lu-jah!
