New Ways to Get the Word Out:  Contemporary Lay Ministries
DRAMA MINISTRY

We sit in the pew snoozing until that amazing moment when the preacher says, "Let me tell you a little story." Something engages us, captures our interest. We come alive. We focus. We listen. We watch. Everyone loves a good story. Jesus understood this and used parables to teach. They were literally stories the people could "see" as they listened. The art of storytelling is not dead. It is alive and well through drama ministry .Because of its versatility and universal appeal, drama is being seen as an exciting and effective way to spread the gospel message.

Drama Ministry involves people who help present skits during Worship services and at other times as needed. This ministry helps communicate the message of the Gospel in a variety of ways that reach all ages of people. Contemporary and biblical sketches are used throughout the Church year during worship. Seasonal monologues and small sketches enhance worship during the Christmas, Lent and Easter Seasons.

Anyone interested in getting involved in this ministry should email Deb Larsen or call Deb at 508-865-0688. Children, teens, and adults are all welcome as we will be looking at various subjects and a variety of scripts.

CLOWN MINISTRY
The young “clowns” have courage and self-confidence to try something different. Each clown in our ministry naturally possesses one or more of the qualities above. Their skits are brief with messages shared through stories. You have to pay attention when they perform. They go into immediate action to connect with you NOW.

Acting the part of a clown is a great way for preteens and teens to "step out" of themselves. A shy, quiet, teen can become more confident and self assured because he or she has joined a clown ministry team. (The makeup and outfits do wonders.) -- The clowns act out theological skits in church, perform skits in nursing homes, preschools, senior centers and children's hospitals.   If interested in learning more, please contact Reverend Victoria Snow.
